We are looking for a responsible, trustworthy, resourceful, dynamic individual to strengthen and become part of our team as an Accounting Clerk. This position is responsible for a variety of Accounting and Payroll related tasks including investigation and reconciliation of discrepancies in a timely manner.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Business Manager, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Cash Management, Payments and Reconciliations
  • Accruals and Journal Entries
  • General Ledger analysis and financial reports
  • Remittance calculations, fillings and payments within due dates
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation
  • Manage capital assets & inventory
  • Maintain records as per policies
  • Processing payroll
  • Company vacation accruals and vacation records management
  • Prepare ROE’s, Year-end T4s and tax slips – Reconciliation/Distribution
  • Employee records filing and maintenance
  • Employee benefits plan administration and reconciliation
  • Payroll related remittance filling and payments within due dates
  • Recommendation of corrective actions and methods to improve process and procedures within the department
  • You will be handling confidential information with extreme care/privacy
  • Support Business Manager with other Accounting/Payroll/Human Resource related duties

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of full cycle accounting
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience, in a medium sized business
  • Postsecondary education in Accounting required
  • Possess a proactive work ethic in addition to excellent communication skills and a personable, professional approach to team members
  • Be coachable and willing to adapt to a fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with discretion, tact and diplomacy
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office – Advanced in Excel
  • Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks
