On July 1, 2013, Dell SonicWALL will transition its Gen4 firewall (and older) appliances to End of Support (EOS). When these products reach EOS, they will no longer be eligible to receive technical support, software or firmware updates or hardware replacements (RMA). All Gen4 firewalls, regardless of whether they are covered under a stand-alone support contract or through a Comprehensive GMS (Global Management Service) support contract, are subject to the same End of Support date.
If you are relying on one or more of the following appliances, you must replace or upgrade before July 1, 2013 to keep your firewall secured and up to date.
What happens if the support contract on your Gen4 firewall extends past the EOS date?
Gen4 firewall covered under a stand-alone contract
For Gen4 firewall covered under a stand-alone contract that extends beyond the EOS date, Dell SonicWALL will honor the support contract until its expiration date, even if that date extends beyond July 1, 2013.
Gen4 firewall covered under a comprehensive GMS support contract
When the Gen4 firewalls reach the July 1, 2013 EOS, they will automatically be removed from the Comprehensive GMS support contracts and will no longer be eligible to receive technical support, software/firmware updates or hardware replacement. Please note that this includes support for security services on the Gen4 firewalls.
Gen4 firewall owners will NOT lose any ‘equity’ in their Comprehensive GMS contract when the Gen4 firewalls are removed. The contract period will lengthen for the remaining eligible applications once the Gen4 firewalls are removed from coverage on July 1, 2013.
