On July 3, 2013 at Mohawk College, the YWCA Hamilton’s Bridging to Employment program held its first graduation ceremony, honouring internationally trained professionals for completing the programs.
Sanja Petric-Milosevic, currently working at Audcomp as a Network Technician, is among the immigrants who graduated that night from the Bridging to Information and Communications Technology.
Sanja came from Bosnia Herzegovina in August 2012. With more than 10 years of experience as an IT professional, she embarked on a journey to find employment in her field.
Shortly after, she made a LinkedIn connection with Jupiter Deveau- the Coordinator of the Bridging to ICT program at the YWCA of Hamilton, and joined the program. In May 2013, she landed a job at Audcomp as a Network Technician.
"The Bridging to ICT program has better acquainted me with the Information and Communication Technology workplace culture in Canada. The courses at Mohawk College have allowed me to acquire basic knowledge about project management and to refresh my computer networking skills", said Sanja, speaking at the graduation event.
"We believe that hiring internationally trained professionals is important for our economy, especially for industries like ours that are experiencing skills shortage. We support such programs like the Bridging to ICT because they are preparing these professionals for the workplace and reducing barriers to employment", says Steve Kelly, Director of Services at Audcomp.
Steve Kelly and Jonathan Binkosky –Director of Sales at Audcomp- attended the Bridging to Employment graduation ceremony. Binkosky tweeted from the ceremony "Congratulation to Sanja. Audcomp is so happy to have you on our team"
